Our Vision

At Mountain View we have a true passion for teenagers.  We want to show teens that committing their lives to Jesus is the most awesome decision they will ever make.  Our goals are simple, we want to give teenagers an opportunity to have and build a vibrant relationship with God and His Word.  We also strive to help them have and build relationships with fellow believers.  Lastly, we stress the importance of having relationships with non-believers and sharing the love of Jesus with them on a daily basis.

We provide a place for students to learn, grow, and experience Jesus in a real and fresh way.  We work hard to make everything we do inviting, fun, and valuable.  We strive to make our youth meetings impacting for those who are serious about following Jesus, relevant for those who are just learning what it means to be a Christian, and thought-provoking for those who aren't so sure about this God thing.

Sunday School

We believe that it is important to offer students relevant, Biblical teaching, but we also believe that creating a sub-culture of "teenage church" is unhealthy for the students, the church, and for the family.  Therefore, at MVCC, we invite students to join their parents and friends for worship in "big church," and then be released during the sermon for their own time of Bible study with their peers and youth leaders.  We split middle school and high school students into their own groups and teach consistently through books of the Bible.  We typically take one Sunday off a month in order for the students to be a part of the entire "big church" service.  We feel that in doing this, students will benefit greatly from getting to know the pastor, being part of the church as a whole, and building relationship with adults.

We currently only offer Youth Sunday School during the 10:30am service.

youth leaders

Our Mountain View youth leaders are committed to investing in the lives of young people on a weekly basis.  Whether it's hanging out at youth meetings on Wednesday night or connecting on a deeper level at camps and retreats, our leaders make it possible for each student to feel important and loved.

  • Aaron Anderson

Hi I’m Aaron.  I’m really tall but basketball isn’t my calling.  My life is youth ministry.  I’ve been working with teenagers for the past 15 years.  Shepherding teens and seeing them grow in Christ is one the greatest joys in my life.  I’ve been at MVCC since day one.  I love Jesus, our church, my youth staff, and my job.  I’ve been married for 13 years to my wife Amanda.  She’s amazing in every way and one of the best youth leaders ever.  We have 3 little girls, Ava, Ariel, and Amara.  When I’m not with students I love fishing, camping, hiking, skateboarding, snowboarding, playing guitar, restoring cars, building stuff, and playing dress up daddy.

  • Amanda Anderson

My name is Amanda. I’m Pastor Aaron’s wife, and love partnering with him in the youth ministry at MVCC. The teens of this community mean the world to us and we love more than anything to see them come to know the Lord while having some fun on the journey. We have three precious daughters, Ava, Ariel, and Amara, so most of my time is spent “momming.” Some of my other loves are speaking Spanish, baking fancy cakes and cupcakes (one of my secret dreams is to someday be on a baking competition show with our children’s pastor Heidi), and doing anything crafty. Above all my goal in this life is to love others as I have been loved by my heavenly father.

  • Kyle Pixler

Hello Mountain View Community Church website reader, my name is Kyle. I have been helping with the youth group since 2009. I like to think of myself as the fun uncle of the youth group. My favorite thing is playing games with the kids. If you’re on my team you will win the games no exception. I play the drums for church and youth group worship. I love going on the Mexico missions trips (I have been to every one). They are a blast and I love helping the people in need. Outside of church I love watching movies, listening to music, and reading. I have a cat named Tiny Rick and she is the most wonderful cat! She loves cuddling with me in my hammock. I love pulled pork sandwiches and apple pie. I hope to see you or your Jr. high/ High school kid here! Bye Bye!

Hi my name is Sarah.  I’m a twin.  I grew up at MVCC and have been helping with the youth group since 2009.  That’s a long time, and a lot of teenagers, especially since I work at Ogden middle school.  I love Jesus and I love seeing students grow in their relationship with him.  I’m here to do anything I can to make that happen.  Youth ministry is an amazing thing but when I need some personal time I love hanging out with my dog.  Her name is Nori, she’s a Shiba Inu. She’s the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen in my life. I love my brother very much he’s the light of my life.  People say I have weird eating habits, which I probably do…mostly being goldfish, mustard, and  ketchup sandwiches.  Other than that, I love music, concerts, my Bible, dresses, friends, family, and spontaneous fun.

  • Nick Smith

Hi, I'm Nick.  I was born in Oregon city, grew up in Salem, and have been back in Oregon City for about 15 years. I accepted Christ in 4th grade and have had a heart for children and youth ministry most of my adult life. I have attended Mountain View almost since the beginning, starting at our second week. Along with my wife Alicia, I also teach K-2nd Sunday School every week. I'm a stay-at-home dad with a 5 year old and a 2 year old as well as a great dane and a mutt. Most of my free time is spent with family; preferably doing just about anything outside.

Mexico: Home Build

Every other year our high school youth group travels to the outskirts of Tijuana, Mexico where they build houses for families in need. To date they have built 20 homes with the organization Amor Ministries.

Keep an eye out for the dates of our next trip!
