 A word from Jon…

I love serving God as a full time pastor. Seeing others come to know Christ and grow in their relationship with him is Rewarding! Being able to help others, whether here in our community or across the world, is our desire at Mountain View Community. I enjoy my family, especially my wife Sheryl, they are a blast to hang out with. Playing tennis, golfing and watching sporting events are the things I love to do. I also like to read and I collect golf balls from all over. It is fun working with the staff, they make me laugh a lot. Starting a new church has been exciting and challenging and I feel like it is exactly where we should be as a family and as a ministry.

 A word from Aaron…

Some people refer to us as the “tall church” but you don’t really have to be tall to be a part of Mountain View…it just so happens that the average hight of our pastoral staff is 6’7” and a half. Anyway, up to this point MVCC has been an awesome experience for me. I love everything about our church, especially how we are always looking for ways to have fun and be creative. I could not dream up two better people to work with than Jon and Garrett. They are amazing men of God that challenge me to work hard and be passionate about Christ. I truly feel that each week we meet for church we are excited to see what God is going to do and that gets me pumped. We show up expecting God to work and knowing that if we step out of the way and let God do his thing, lives are going to be transformed.

Matt Cain

Worhip Minister

When I was five years old I responded to a Sunday school lesson about Jesus calling his disciples friends (John 15:12-17). That afternoon, I repented from my sins, trusted Jesus as my Savior, and received Him into my life. Two years later I learned that Jesus commanded his disciples to be baptized, so at our church picnic I was baptized in the river.

As a 13-year-old kid at Hume Lake Christian Camp, I publicly confessed that I wanted to fully own my faith in Christ. This was a significant moment because I decided I was not going to be a cultural Christian. I wanted to be authentic. God blessed this decision and it really set the course for my high school years. In High School I discovered the joy of serving and was active in my faith on the high school campus and in the youth group.

Then came college. It was here that God had me pass through my first set of difficult trials as a young man. Through these trials, my relationship and faith in the Lord was strengthened as I experienced the Lord’s love in the midst of brokenness and pain. While at Biola University, I served as the director of junior high ministries for three years, and graduated with a B.A. in Christian Education. I met Krista our freshman year and we dated until I proposed our senior year.

A week after graduation, we got married, moved to Portland, OR, and I began attending Western Seminary. As a graduate student, I served as a youth pastor at Powellhurst Baptist Church and later I volunteered at New Song Community Church as their young adult pastor and helped lead worship. It was during these years that I discovered and developed a love for writing original worship songs. In May of 2009, I graduated with a M.A. in Evangelism and Equipping.

Beginning in March of 2010, I joined the pastoral staff here at Mountain View Community Church. Serving here has already been such a joy, and I look forward to all the God has in store for our church family.
